With over 50 years of experience, Kafrit Group is a global leader in high-performance masterbatches and compounds for the plastics industry. Operating across nine companies and ten manufacturing locations worldwide, the company develops advanced solutions to drive innovation and meet the evolving demands of its customers.

The challenge: When global data meets local complexity

Kafrit Group had already taken the important step of calculating its Corporate Carbon Footprint (CCF) using a software solution. However, managing emissions data across multiple  globally distributed sites remained a challenge. The company needed a flexible, scalable solution to harmonize data collection and improve visibility across all locations — without adding unnecessary complexity.

Previously, Kafrit Group relied on another carbon accounting tool that couldn't scale with their needs.

Sustainability Leader Fabian Schulte recalls: “We already used a pretty nice software solution before, which didn’t survive the difficult start-up journey. There was no major frustration, but we wanted to make sure the next solution would be even better.”

Solution: A decentralized, intuitive platform for carbon management

To accelerate their carbon management journey, Kafrit Group integrated Cozero’s Climate Action Platform alongside their ESG reporting tool from Sunhat.

With Cozero, the company now:

  • Monitors Scope 1, 2, and 3 emissions from all ten global locations

  • Enables decentralized reporting in local units of measurement, while consolidating data in real-time

  • Feeds carbon data directly into Sunhat's reporting tool for automated reporting

  • Plans to engage suppliers for more precise Scope 3 data in future reporting cycles

  • Is exploring Cozero’s ACT module for decarbonization planning and emissions reduction management

“Cozero brought the harmonized CCF data collection process to the next level, being flexible enough for our users globally to report in their local units of measurement, while consolidating in real-time at the global level.”

Results: From fragmented data to full emissions visibility

  • +50% increase in global coverage: Emissions tracking expanded from 6 to all 10 global sites

  • Historic Scope 3 data uploaded in just one month

  • Full emissions data submission completed by end of Q2

“The onboarding with Cozero was a very fast and pretty intuitive process. We benefit from Cozero’s specialized expertise in carbon accounting, giving us granular insights into our emissions in general as well as into our main focus areas for the coming years.”

Impact: A scalable foundation for global sustainability efforts

Cozero’s flexibility has empowered local teams while giving corporate stakeholders centralized oversight. The platform’s ability to accommodate local units and seamlessly consolidate data has significantly improved efficiency, reduced manual coordination, and elevated overall data quality.

While Kafrit Group already had a strong sustainability mindset, Cozero provided the infrastructure to operationalize it at scale — laying the groundwork for more precise supplier engagement and effective reduction planning in the years to come.

Why it matters

With increasing pressure on plastics manufacturers to demonstrate measurable sustainability progress, digital carbon management has become essential. Kafrit Group’s approach reflects a growing trend: using flexible, interoperable software tools to embed carbon insights across the organization — not only for compliance, but as a foundation for long-term competitiveness.
